Royalties
Royalties are remuneration due to artists for the use of their artistic performances / works, i.e. fees that any entity using artistic performances / works in its activity (e.g. by broadcasting them on television or radio, screening them in cinemas, or reproducing them on media) is obliged to pay to artists through the relevant collective management organization (CMO).
Within the scope of ZASP’s activity, royalties are due to:
- actors, dancers, and radio theatre directors,
- the heirs of an artist, on the basis of a court decision confirming the acquisition of inheritance rights.
To check whether an eligible person is entitled to royalties, please contact the Department for Eligible Persons or use the option available on the website:
The management of rights by ZASP is carried out on the basis of a collective management agreement. In order to collect royalties, such an agreement must be signed.
ZASP collects royalties on behalf of eligible persons who have signed a collective management agreement with ZASP, but also on behalf of artists who have not yet signed such an agreement with ZASP and who are entitled to royalties for the use of their artistic performances.
At any time, such an artist may contact ZASP in this matter. Get in touch with us to sign an agreement and check whether you are entitled to royalties.
An artist account is a personal account in the POA (Artist Service Portal), where, after concluding an agreement with ZASP, you can access information about your royalties (including their archive, current status, the grounds on which they were granted to you, with detailed information about the work, etc.).
Collection means collecting remuneration from users that is due to eligible persons. In the context of ZASP’s activities, this refers to collecting remuneration for the use of works by users – in the case of radio theatre directors – and for the use of artistic performances – in the case of performing artists, within the fields of exploitation specified in the authorization granted to ZASP for the collective management of copyright and related rights.
Distribution is the allocation of remuneration collected from users, the division of these amounts, and their payment to eligible persons. In the context of ZASP’s activities, this refers to the distribution of remuneration due to eligible persons for the use by users of works or artistic performances, i.e.:
– the division of remuneration carried out in accordance with the distribution rules in force at ZASP, based on the “Distribution Regulations”,
– the payment of remuneration to eligible persons.
