ARTISTS’ VETERANS’ HOME

ARTISTS’ VETERANS’ HOME
OF POLISH THEATRE STAGES DAW – SKOLIMÓW

A welcoming home with soul. The only one of its kind in Poland.

The Home for Veteran Artists of Polish Theatre Stages (DAW) is located in Skolimów – a spa area of the town of Konstancin-Jeziorna, about 25 km from the centre of Warsaw. It is a home dedicated to seniors, where we care both for the health needs of our residents and for their ability to enjoy life to the fullest – at DAW and beyond. Our priority is to provide residents with a sense of safety while maintaining their independence at the same time (single rooms, the home is open during the day). Here, every resident is unique and truly important.

DAW is a special home with a rich and colourful history, which is why some people may think it is not easily accessible – meanwhile, it is a non-public home that operates under the same rules as public social care homes (with the possibility of financial support within the social assistance system). The fee for staying at DAW is lower than in most facilities of this type in the Warsaw area.

We follow individual needs so that every senior feels properly cared for. Our strength lies in our staff, who listen carefully to the voices of residents and their families and treat those in our care with empathy and respect. The DAW team provides professional, round-the-clock care.

The Home for Veteran Artists of Polish Theatre Stages in Skolimów was founded in 1927 on the initiative of actor Antoni Bednarczyk, with the land for the building donated by Wacław Preker. Built from contributions made by members of ZASP and donations from theatre lovers, it was created with retired actors in mind. From the very beginning, our intention has been to create a place free from sadness and boredom, filled with conversations about theatre and laughter, with music in the air, and above all, a place where everyone feels safe and at home. For the past 10 years, our doors have also been open to family members of artists and to representatives of other artistic professions. For 100 years, ZASP has continued the founders’ vision of DAW – a home with a warm, family-like atmosphere.

This is the only place of its kind in Europe.

100 years of experience

In our day-to-day work, we rely on 100 years of experience in long-term care in Poland.

We have 50 places available. We offer comfortable single rooms (at no extra charge) and several rooms for couples (large double rooms). We provide 24-hour care, nursing and caregiving services, medical care, as well as rehabilitation and activation activities. Cultural events are organised at DAW, including music concerts, poetry meetings, artistic performances, as well as trips to theatres, community centres, and museums. We offer tasty, home-style, full-day meals prepared in our own kitchen. Our excellent location near the pine forests of the Konstancin Health Resort is a valuable complement to our offer.

The current average monthly cost of maintaining a resident at DAW is: PLN 8,630. (In accordance with Ordinance No. 14/ORG/2024 of the Starosta of Piaseczno of 8 February 2024, published in the Official Journal of the Mazovian Voivodeship on 14 February 2024.)
